These tours are perfect for interstate schools up to 800km from Brisbane as we can pick you up from your school and include a night in Brisbane prior to heading to your next location.

You simply can’t get a more diverse learning environment for a school camp near Brisbane than Moreton Island. Situated just 40km from Brisbane across Moreton Bay, Moreton Island is the least disturbed, large coastal sand island in South East Queensland and has a mixture of learning environments like no other.

Imagine immense ancient dune systems formed by wind, water & waves, pristine Moreton Bay Marine Park complete with ship wreck snorkelling, 27 different plan communities including mangroves, melaleuca swamps, heath & eucalypt woodlands as well as a strong indigenous history & remnants of WW2 historical sites – what an amazing school camp destination that would be! We offer dorm style camps and a camping experience.

Fraser Island is the ultimate in school camp destinations and presents a unique opportunity to study nature and the impacts of nature based recreation in a closed environment. Combining Fraser Island with a Moreton Island camp gives you the opportunity to compare the largest sand island in the world (and the most visited of the two islands) with its little sister Moreton Island (the third largest sand island in the world) and students can have discussions regarding the different levels of tourism and experiences on both.

The Great Barrier Reef is one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, and is an ecologically, economically & bio-diverse region of importance in Australia. It is the ultimate destination for studies on Biology, diversity, tourism and other science related fields.

Combining a tour with a night in Brisbane is perfect for interstate schools and schools who would like to see a little more of this vibrant city. We stay in central accommodation and can organise Museum visits, a trip to the Science Centre and more. See below for some of the activities we offer. If you have something in mind that is not on our list – please give us a call and we will tailor make an itinerary to suit you!

Alternately, if you prefer to give the students an organic camping experience, we can provide camping accommodation and equipment on the outskirts of Brisbane with access to leadership challenges, horse-riding and more!

Brisbane Itinerary Options:

Science Centre & Museum

Students can wander through the Queensland Museum which is the state’s centre for natural history, cultural heritage, science & human achievement.

Younger students will benefit immensely from a visit to the Science Centre where science comes alive with action stations and hands on exhibits.

Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA)

QAGOMA presents an evolving program of Australian and international exhibitions, with a focus on the contemporary art of Australia, Asia and the Pacific.

South Bank City Beach

A beach right in the middle of the city, what could get better than that? Unwind and swim in this man-made lagoon right on the banks of the Brisbane River and surrounded by 17 hectares of lush parklands, world class eateries and boutique shopping.

Kangaroo Point Cliffs

Look out over the Brisbane River and enjoy the beautiful views. Often, we combine this with an outdoor pizza dinner!

Night Cruise & City Walk

Take a guided walk through the city to see the sites then jump on the iconic Brisbane River Cat for a ferry hopper tour – see the lights of    Brisbane from the river.

5 Day Fraser Island & Moreton Island School Camp

This school camp option is perfect for teachers who want to give their students the opportunity to compare two of the largest sand island’s in the world and discuss the differences between them. This tour can be shortened to have only 1 day on Moreton Island which may be suitable if schools are travelling a longer distance and need to stay an extra night in Brisbane to connect with the ferry.

Day 1 – Moreton Island

  • Pick up from your school in our custom build 4WD coaches and drive to Moreton Island ferry terminal.
  • Cruise across Moreton Bay (café facilities on board)
  • Enjoy a fully guided Snorkelling Tour of the Tangalooma Ship Wrecks with all gear and safety inductions supplied by Trailblazer Tours. Safety Vests & peek hole boogie boards for swimming aid provided. See thousands of beautiful reef fish and experience the awesome fish feeding frenzy! You might even be lucky enough to spot a dolphin or turtle!
  • Enjoy a fresh picnic lunch on the beach
  • Experience a 4WD adventure like no other in our 4WD tough bus as we travel to and explore The Desert. Take up the challenge and experience the exhilarating Sand Tobogganing reaching speeds of up to 70km per hour!
  • Check in to your Castaways Resort Dorm accommodation just 100m from Bulwer Beach.

Day 2 – Moreton Island / Brisbane

  • Enjoy the relaxed Discovery Tour and learn all about the History, Fauna, and Moreton Island
  • Visit gorgeous North Point and see Champagne Pools. Go for a guided walk to Honeymoon Bay (don’t forget your camera’s)
  • Visit historical Cape Moreton Lighthouse and Museum Visitor Centre. Spot marine life from the lookout including whales (during season), dolphins, sharks, turtles and manta rays – extra points if you spot the elusive dugongs!
  • Visit beautiful Blue Lagoon and learn about how this amazing lake was created and why it’s not always blue! Soak in the age reversing waters – but don’t stay too long or you might become too young to get out!
  • Depart on 3.30pm ferry on day three for your trip back to Brisbane
  • Check into Brisbane accommodation
  • Enjoy a pizza dinner overlooking the Brisbane River before a night time city walk.

Day 3 – Fraser Island

  • Depart Brisbane after a yummy breakfast at your accommodation
  • FREE Cooloola National Park Tour included on this day
  • 4WD up 75 Mile beach on Fraser Island with guide commentary along the way
  • Walk into amazing Lake Wabby via HammerstoneSandblow– a barrage lake, and take a dip in the refreshing water.
  • Check in to Eurong Beach Resort and enjoy buffet dinner before a night beach walk.

Day 4 - Fraser Island

  • Pile Valley walk – discover the amazing Satinay Trees!
  • Central Station – learn about the history of milling on Fraser  Island.
  • The rainforest growing in sand &Wanggoolba Creek also known as “the invisible creek”.
  • Great Lakes drive (where possible)
  • Picnic lunch at Lake Birrabeen and time for a swim in the fresh perched lake
  • Return to resort for buffet dinner before an optional Ranger Eco Talk (where available)

Day 5 - Fraser Island / return to school

  • Visit amazing Yidney Dripping Rocks and learn about their formation
  • Learn about the picturesque and historic Maheno Shipwreck
  • Visit Eli Creek and enjoy the refreshing icy cool waters. Learn about how the creek was created and continues to ebb and flow based on the islands ecology.
  • Marvel at the coloured sands at The Pinnacles
  • Spot whales, dolphins, sharks & turtles from Indian Head and take a dip in the Champagne Pools
  • Depart Fraser Island via the vehicle ferry
  • Arrive back at your school

Moreton Island, Brisbane and the Gold Coast Hinterland

This tour option is great for interstate shools who may need a to drive a little farther on day 1 of their tour. Both dorm and camping accommodation is available for this tour.

Day 1 – Brisbane

This day is very flexible depending on the location of your school. During the available time in Brisbane you can choose from a range of great activities and experiences which you can view under the “Brisbane Discovery” tab on this page.

Alternately, you can choose to spend the night in camping accommodation on the outskirts of the city where there are a range of activities available such as high ropes, horse-riding and creek fishing.

Day 2 – Moreton Island

  • Early breakfast and depart for Moreton Island ferry terminal.
  • Cruise across Moreton Bay (café facilities on board)
  • Enjoy a fully guided Snorkelling Tour of the Tangalooma Ship Wrecks with all gear and safety inductions supplied by Trailblazer Tours.   • Enjoy a night walk through the city after dinner

Day 5 – Gold Coast Hinterland OR Theme Park

  • See the world heritage listed Gold Coast Hinterland with incredible mountain vistas
  • Walk the Rainforest Tree Top
  • Get close and personal with friendly wildlife like lorikeets, king parrots and paddymelons
  • Learn about the Gondwana Rainforest and ancient trees
  • 4WD down Duck Creek road in our tough 4WD buses
  • Explore the gorgeous Numinbah Valley
  • Enjoy the Natural Arch, and learn about its creation over time
  • Explore the amazing glow worm caves
  • Return to your school in the early evening
